Khoa Toán - Thống kê thông báo lịch seminar tháng 04 năm 2023 như sau:
Difference-in-differences (DID) has long been considered as a widely applied method for assessing causal effects in observational studies when the gold standard, Randomized Controlled Trial, is impractical or unethical. Recently, the application of DID to staggered implementation scenarios has gained prominence since it allows researchers to deal with heterogeneity in treatment event dates. For empirical evidence, we employ a novel DID imputation estimator to examine the effect of achieving 50% vaccination coverage on COVID-19-related deaths and cases across various countries. Our findings reveal a significant decrease in death rates post-vaccination, with more pronounced effects in Europe and North America, while case numbers remain unchanged. These findings emphasize the impact of vaccination programs in reducing pandemic fatalities and fighting vaccine hesitancy
